During the 30-year period from 1890 to 1920, African American club women in Illinois helped the largest national network of black club women in the country. Hendricks focuses on the Progressive Era, a period of challenges not replicated in other regions of the country. Club women successfully met these challenges by becoming social hanover country club pa and political agents of reform hanover country club pa and community uplift. Through volunteerism hanover country club pa and fundraising they combatted the homelessness, unemployment, illiteracy, high mortality, hanover country club pa and inadequate health care that plagued African Americans.
